![]() Tracking showed it made it to "out for delivery", but it never turned up. ![]() It contained some sensitive paperwork and a couple of checks. Not a common situation, but be aware.ģ) One of our mailings, the last one of a forwarding order, was lost. The debit card was actually returned to the sender as undeliverable, which created a more complex issue with a financial institution, who had then marked our existing address as invalid. This actually left us without the ability to get cash easily unless we could find a credit union shared branch (and why we still maintain a small account at a credit union that participates in shared branching). This includes credit, debit, and ATM cards. If that carrier is out and someone else sorts your mail, the forward instructions might be missed and mail will go to your home.Ģ) Some financial pieces of mail cannot be forwarded. If your regular carrier is sorting the mail for your route, it's generally reliable. We had few problems, but it wasn't completely error-free.ġ) It is mail-carrier-dependent. It would be two separate services - the forward and the hold - but it worked for us. ![]() Both programs from the USPS are for domestic mail forwarding. You can set up a hold mail of up to 30 days to start after the premium forwarding service ends so the mail won't start being delivered until you're home. The USPS will provide mail forwarding for up to 1 year free of charge, for the Regular Forward Mail program and 83.60 per month of service for the Premium Forwarding Service. We used it 3 times over a couple of years, from 2009 through 2011. For just 15.25 a week and 15.00 to enroll, the Postal Service will hold your mail, package it up and reship it to you by Priority Mail. ![]()
